About Us
The Museum of Contemporary American Teenagers
It started back in 2017. In an empty, single-story building scheduled for demolition. Montgomery County high school and middle school students created the first Museum of Contemporary AmericanTeenagers (MoCAT).
Parents, peers, politicians, media outlets, museum administrators and many more queued up for this rare, authentic glimpse into the lives of American teenagers.
Fast forward to today. MoCAT is teaming up with The Smithsonian Folklife Festival, American University, and Kennedy Center Education to bring the definitive celebration, exploration and exposition of American teen culture past and present.
