What are We Missing?
If we turn down the volume on the so-called “experts” and tune in teens themselves, it becomes clear that there is no precedent for the 21st Century coming-of-age experience.
We simply have to ask the right questions and actually listen to the answers.
With this in mind, the creators behind the Museum of the Contemporary American Teenager (MoCAT) asked teenagers from across the country
"What are we missing?"
We soon discovered that teens are far more than storm and stress, sullenness and sudden outbursts.
We discovered that teens are more than their anxieties and what makes others anxious about them.
Given the influence teens have had on America and the world, it is high time we embark on a fuller exploration of their culture--a culture as rich as any--complete with its own traditions, shared system of beliefs, symbols, language, clothing, and more.
Join us as we explore the infinitely puzzling teen experience.
