wafting in when you enter a theater

the excitement of the unexpected

drawing us in nearer

I miss those moments in the hallway

catching up with a friend or two

the sudden rush of elation

as you talk about what’s new

I miss that cafe next to the metro

I miss getting dressed for concerts

I miss those theme park rollercoasters

and I even miss those “snow day” alerts

Most of all I miss knowing

at least to some degree

what’s in store for my future

the life ahead of me
